Sanofi's cracked quadrivalent influenza virus vaccine, VaxigripTetra®, was approved for sale in China
Recently, Sanofi announced that its quadrivalent cracked influenza virus vaccine VaxigripTetra (6-35 months old) has been approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), bringing a new international high-quality choice for the prevention and control of influenza in children in China.
Influenza is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by influenza virus. Its antigenicity is changeable and it spreads rapidly. Every year, seasonal influenza epidemic can lead to 3 million ~5 million severe cases worldwide, and one person dies of influenza infection every 49 seconds globally, which seriously endangers human health.
Children are at high risk of influenza. The annual incidence of influenza in children is 20%~30% in the epidemic season, and the annual infection rate can even reach 50% in the high epidemic season. It is worth noting that children infected with influenza can develop severe flu-related complications such as severe pneumonia, necrotizing encephalitis, fulminant myocarditis, and even death. Influenza vaccination is the most economical and effective means of prevention. However, there are limited full dose (15μgHA/ strain) quadrivalent influenza vaccines available for 6 to 35 months of age in the Chinese market, and more effective and reassuring vaccine options are needed.
A large phase III clinical trial in China showed that the serum protection rate of VaxigripTetra, a quadrivalent influenza virus cracking vaccine, was up to 97.4% against the four subtypes of influenza in infants aged 6-35 months, and it is a safe choice for infant influenza vaccine. Similar foreign products have been marketed in more than 100+ countries *, with as many as 35 clinical studies on immunogenicity, efficacy and safety worldwide.
Adopt global unified production process and high quality raw materials, 70% production time is used for quality inspection, global quality is consistent.
