Vietnam exported $1.85 billion worth of aquatic products in the first quarter

According to the Vietnam Aquatic Products Processing and Export Association (Vasep), in March 2023, Vietnam's total import and export volume of aquatic products reached 780 million US dollars, down 24% from the previous year; In the first three months, exports of aquatic products totaled about $1.85 billion, down 27 percent year on year.

Exports of Vietnam's staple products fell by 8-39% in March; Among them, shrimp decreased the most, 39%; Tuna and cuttlefish fell by 23 percent and 33 percent, respectively.

In the first quarter of this year, shrimp exports were $577 million, down 40 percent from a year earlier; Exports of fish were $447 million, down 32 percent year on year; Tuna was $179 million, down 31 percent from a year earlier; Cuttlefish octopus was $54 million, down 8 percent from a year earlier. The value of all types of Marine fish increased slightly, reaching $435 million, up 3 percent year on year.
