Evonik, AMSilk collaborate to produce sustainable silk protein
Recently, Evonik reached an agreement with German biotechnology company AMSilk to jointly mass produce innovative sustainable silk proteins, which are suitable for a variety of applications including high-end fashion, automotive smart materials and medical devices.
Materials made of silk protein have both excellent performance and environmental protection benefits. Evonik is currently producing the material at its contract development and manufacturing (CDMO) precision fermentation production site in Slovakia.
