Dow Zhangjiagang 12,000 tons of silicone resin plant completed

On January 15, 2021, the inauguration ceremony of Dow's Zhangjiagang silicone resin factory was held. Zhangjiagang City (Free Trade Zone) leaders Pan Guoqiang, Shao Junmin, Lu Chongmin, Ji Dong, Weng Yuren, Shen Lin and others attended the event.

The new plant completed this time with a total investment of 69 million US dollars is located in Dow's integrated silicone production base in Zhangjiagang. After it is put into operation, it is expected to produce 12,000 tons of silicone resin annually, which will greatly increase Dow's high value-added silicone The global production capacity of resins meets the rising demand for specialty silicone products from related industries and emerging markets around the world.

At the same time, the plant will become the first overseas silicone resin factory established by Dow outside the United States, and it will also be the second high-value-added silicone resin production base of Dow in the world, which will help to extend the integrated production of Dow Zhangjiagang. The organic silicon industrial chain of the base lays the foundation for introducing more high value-added organic silicon downstream product production lines.

It is understood that this new high-value-added silicone resin plant is an important part of Dow's investment plan announced in September 2018, which includes a series of low-capital-intensive and high-return investments in silicone products. Dow expects to use this investment plan to accelerate innovation and meet the needs of global customers in high-growth markets.

High value-added silicone resin is a high-tech material and a key raw material for the manufacture of special silicone products. It is widely used in household and personal care, pressure-sensitive adhesives, defoamers and secondary optics. Plastic optical silicone, which maintains excellent optical transparency for more than 6000 hours at a temperature of 150°C, has become one of the important factors for the success of the new car lamp design of automobile lighting manufacturer Hella.
