Another project group of BASF Zhanjiang Integrated base started construction
At present, the construction of BASF Zhanjiang integrated base has begun to accelerate, and after the commencement of the acrylic acid production complex on March 13, another project group has started, including a world-class neopentylene glycol plant.
Basf official wechat news on March 23, in the BASF Zhanjiang integrated base, including neopentyl glycol and lemon equipment, including the project group construction began.
The world-class neopentyl glycol plant will have an annual capacity of 80,000 tons and is expected to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2025. By then, BASF's global neopentyl glycol annual production capacity will increase to 335,000 tons.
Currently, BASF has neopentyl glycol production facilities in Nanjing and Jilin, China, Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Freeport, USA, and the investment in Zhanjiang is its fifth facility.
The project also includes a citral plant. Earlier this month, BASF announced investment in a new citraldehyde facility at the Zhanjiang integration site and a new menthol and linalool downstream facility at the Ludwigshafen integration site in Germany. The units are expected to begin production in 2026. Upon completion of the investment, BASF's annual capacity of citral will increase to 118,000 tons.
The BASF Zhanjiang Integrated Base project, officially announced in July 2018, is its largest investment project to date and is independently built and operated by BASF. Basf will invest 10 billion euros to build the site by 2030. The first set will be piled in 2020 and officially put into production at the end of September 2022.
At present, BASF is fully advancing the backward integration capability of the Zhanjiang integrated base. On March 13, the acrylic acid production complex at BASF's Zhanjiang integrated site broke ground. These world-class scale production plants are scheduled to be put into operation in 2025, when the annual capacity will be about 400,000 tons of butyl acrylate and about 100,000 tons of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate.
