New indication for JansSEN SeDANOL ® Approved in China!

Recently, Janssen China announced that its innovative drug Sedanol ® (Ulinumab injection, English trade name: STELARA®, specifications: 45mg/0.5ml/ dose is approved by the State Medical Products Administration for the treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis in children and adolescents aged 6 years and older (weighing 60 kg to 100 kg) who have insufficient or intolerable response to other systemic therapies or phototherapy. The approval of the indication for Starstar ® psoriasis in children is another important breakthrough since it was first approved for adults with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis in 2017, providing a new treatment option for children and adolescents with psoriasis in China, helping them to stay away from the disease and regain health confidence.

At present, the incidence of psoriasis in children in China is 0.18% to 0.3%, which means that about 400,000 children are affected by the disease. Among them, plaque psoriasis accounts for 70% and is the most common type of psoriasis in children4. Children not only have to endure uncomfortable symptoms such as itchy skin, but also suffer prejudice and discrimination, easy to produce low self-esteem, anxiety, avoidance and other psychological, quality of life and mental health under great pressure and impact.
