According to the bidding results of the "2023 centralized procurement of waterproof materials and anti-corrosion coatings" project by China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC), Jotun Industrial Coatings has successfully won the bid. The paint company won the bid for the domestically produced anti-corrosion coatings in regions labeled as "005, 006, 007, 008" which cover Northeast, North China, Northwest, Central China, East China, Southwest, South China, and Port areas. The estimated procurement amount is CNY 100 million.
Established on December 19, 2014, CEEC is a joint-stock company initiated by State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission-supervised central enterprise China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and its wholly-owned subsidiary PowerChina Planning and Engineering Institute. The company is a comprehensive and super large-scale conglomerate that provides systematic, integrated, full-cycle, and packaged development plans and services for industries such as energy and power, infrastructure, etc. in China and even globally.
The company's main business covers various fields, including traditional energy, new energy, comprehensive intelligent energy, water conservancy, ecological environment protection, comprehensive transportation, urban administration, housing construction, real estate (new urbanization), building materials (cement, sand and gravel, etc.), civilian explosives, equipment manufacturing, and capital (finance). It has a complete industrial chain that integrates planning consulting, evaluation review, survey design, engineering construction and management, operation and maintenance, investment and operation, technical services, equipment manufacturing, and building materials. The company has entered the Fortune Global 500 list for nine consecutive years and has established more than 200 overseas branch offices in over 90 countries and regions, with its business covering more than 140 countries and regions worldwide.
Founded in 1993, Jotun is a top 10 paint company in China and a top 25 global paint company, mainly engaged in research and development, production, sales, and service of coatings. After thirty years of development and accumulation, Jotun has continuously expanded its business to cover multiple areas, including building coatings, wood coatings, industrial coatings, floor coatings, auxiliary materials, and accessories. It has become one of the few groups in China that can cover multiple areas of coatings, integrating research and development, production, sales, and services. Currently, Jotun has eight production bases across the country, with retail terminals covering more than 3,000 counties and towns across China.
Thanks to its significant performance growth in recent years, Jotun's position in the industry continues to rise. According to a series of authoritative rankings released by "Coatings World," Jotun ranks 25th on the "Top 100 Global Paint Companies in 2022" list, 8th on the "Top 50 Asia-Pacific Paint Companies in 2023" list, and 8th on the "Top 100 Chinese Paint Companies in 2023" list, and has been among the top 10 Chinese paint companies for several years. From the rankings, Jotun's overall strength is among the top in the industry.
In the field of architectural coatings, Jotun has strong market competitiveness and brand influence, with continuous sales and production scale ranking among the top in the domestic industry. According to a series of authoritative rankings released by "Coatings World," Jotun ranks 19th on the "2022 Global Architectural and Decorative Coatings Brand TOP 20" list with sales revenue of USD 360.7 million, making its first entry into the top 20 global architectural and decorative coatings. In addition, Jotun also ranks fifth on the "Chinese Building Coatings Brand List," fourth on the "Chinese Decorative Paint Retail Brands List," and fourth on the "Chinese Engineering and Construction Coatings Brand List."
Jotun began to layout industrial coatings as early as 2009 when it established the Industrial Coatings Division. After more than ten years of development and accumulation, Jotun has established a complete industrial coatings product system and formed a product research and development mechanism that promotes the development of raw materials and products. Its products have been applied to various fields of the national economy, and many major engineering projects such as the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the Baiyun International Airport, the G20 Summit venue, the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station, and the Bird's Nest Stadium for the Olympic Games have also used Jotun's industrial coatings.
Currently, Jotun's industrial coatings product system mainly includes general industrial coatings and light anti-corrosion coatings. However, Jotun's relevant person in charge has explicitly stated that in the future, the Industrial Coatings Division will develop "heavy anti-corrosion coatings" as the representative core category of industrial coatings, and create star products with technical representation, enterprise influence, and development potential.
Jotun Group Vice President Xu Youwei stated in a previous media interview that facing industry common problems such as foreign technical monopoly of high-performance materials and low-level greenizationof production, Jotun has been committed to independent research and development and technological innovation, continuously improving product quality and performance, and actively exploring the international market. The successful bid for the "2023 centralized procurement of waterproof materials and anti-corrosion coatings" project by CEEC is a testament to Jotun's strength and competitiveness in the industrial coatings field. Jotun will continue to focus on product innovation, improve service quality, and provide customers with high-quality and comprehensive coating solutions, and strive to become a world-class coatings company.
