FMC announces the global trademark for Tetflupyrolimet - 'Dodhylex™ active'

Recently FMC announced that Dodhylex™ active is the global brand name for Tetflupyrolimet, 

Tetflupyrolimet is a new herbicide with a new mode of action, which can effectively control the most difficult grass weeds in paddy.  Dodhylex™ is named for its action site (DHODH) and for its flexibility and ability to block nutrients needed for weed survival for both transplanting and direct seeding rice.

The global brand will ensure that growers around the world are aware of this new mode of action in the latest herbicide products that FMC plans to launch in 2025.

Dodhylex™ active is the first active ingredient in HRAC/WSSA Group 28 and the industry's first new herbicide with a new mode of action in more than 30 years, following seven years of research, development and field trials. This novel mode of action herbicide was discovered by FMC's Stine Research Center and reflects FMC's commitment to innovation and rigorous approach to advancing new molecules. The molecule will help control resistant weeds and is a major advance in agriculture.

Dodhylex™ active has been shown to control important grass weeds and major broadleaf weeds and sedges in rice throughout the season. In addition, trials of Dodhylex™ active are ongoing on other crops, including sugar cane, wheat, soybeans and corn. 

Tetflupyrolimet is a novel Aryl pyrrolidinone anilide herbicide developed by DuPont (now Corteva). In 2018, DuPont transferred its patent rights to FMC. On May 16, 2023, FMC and Syngenta Plant Protection announced an agreement to jointly launch a breakthrough technology for weed control in paddy fields in Asia.

FMC holds patents on many compounds of Tetflupyrolimet, Including PCT patents (WO2015084796A1), Europe (EP3077374), the United States (US2016297756), and China [CN106414403B(ZL201480074726.8)] were all applied for on December 2, 2014. It will expire on December 1, 2034.

At present, the company has started the registration of Tetflupyrolimet and is expected to market related products in 2023. Based on the novel mechanism of action and excellent product performance of Tetflupyrolimet, FMC predicts that its annual peak sales will reach $300 million to $400 million.
