FMC launches a new herbicide (Tetflupyrolimet), marking a new milestone in the herbicide market

2024-07-31

Recently, FMC's U.S. Product Development, technical services and commercial teams teamed up with renowned weed scientist Dr. Conner Webster of Louisiana State University to host an interactive customer event.

The event invited paddy growers, retail and independent technical consultants covering approximately 230,000 acres in the south-central United States. For the first time in the United States, the groundbreaking herbicide Dodhylex™ active(tetflupyrolimet) was presented to attendees. It has significant advantages in rice field application, demonstrating its great potential in the rice field herbicide market.

The event, created as a platform for experts from the field and the university, validated the Dodhylex™ active activity as a best-in-class weed management strategy in the South Central paddy field, marking the first time in more than 30 years that an innovative mechanism of action (DHODH inhibitor) herbicide this important milestone.

Participants observed that Dodhylex™ active is highly effective against barnweed and gold by significantly reducing weed roots, inhibiting weed growth and emergence, and having superior potency. This presentation covers a wide range of application criteria for Dodhylex™ active, including stubble elimination, water and dry seeding (machine drill), variety tolerance assessment, comparison between conventional and hybrid rice, integration with various paddy herbicide technologies, barrel mixing compatibility, and role in integrated paddy herbicide programs.

Currently, in addition to display areas in Crowley, Louisiana, and Crawfordsville, Arkansas, which will focus on providing growers with information about Dodhylex™ active and other core FMC’s products, more than 10 acres of field trials have been established in the Mississippi River Delta. Supporting Dodhylex™ active performance demonstrations in three core areas - Greenville, Mississippi; Crawfordsville, Arkansas; and Portticeville, Missouri - to accelerate the development of Dodhylex™ active field applications.
