CONSUMERS & MARKETS: TikTok Shop Beauty Sales: Insights and Trends
Recent data from NIQ reveals that a significant 84% of TikTok Shop sales are concentrated within the beauty and personal care sector.
This platform, which was initially introduced to the U.S. market on September 12, 2023, offers shoppable videos and livestreams within users' For You feeds. It empowers brands, merchants, and creators to directly sell their products through the TikTok app.
TikTok Shop comes equipped with an array of features, including product showcases, a dedicated shop tab, an affiliate program, Shop ads, a fulfillment service, and secure checkout.
In the wake of its rollout, NIQ has commenced monitoring activities on TikTok Shop. As per their findings, the most popular shopping categories on the platform encompass:
1. Facial skincare
2. Cologne and perfume
3. Lip cosmetics
4. Body lotions and treatments
5. Deodorant
NIQ's analytical capabilities extend to capturing sales volume, value, and market share at the brand level within the TikTok Shop platform. This empowers brands to delve deeper into consumer behavior, optimize sales performance, and unlock new growth opportunities. It also aids brands in enhancing the effectiveness of their marketing campaigns and product development.
The measurement of sales across consumer packaged goods (CPG) categories on TikTok Shop will soon be accessible to NIQ clients on both the Rakuten and Omnisales platforms this month.
John Busardo, Senior Vice President and Beauty and Over-the-Counter (OTC) Vertical Lead at NIQ, expressed enthusiasm about the launch of this new sales measurement. He emphasized the rapid growth of TikTok Shop and the crucial need for brands and retailers to gain insights into their product performance on this platform. NIQ's new measurement tool will offer these insights, enabling informed decisions about TikTok Shop strategies.
