Low-Temperature Curing Architectural Powder Coating Developed by AkzoNobel can Reduce Consumption by 20%
International coatings giant AkzoNobel recently announced the launch of an industry-first architectural powder coating that can be cured at temperatures as low as 150°C while still being Qualiccoat Level 1 certified.
Interpon D1036 Low-E is actually more sustainable in two ways: It either cures at a lower temperature (150°C compared to standard cure temperatures of 180°C-200°C), helping customers reduce energy consumption by 20% ; or its curing speed is 25% faster than traditional powders, allowing more products to be coated in less time, improving the efficiency of the coating line, thereby reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.
The product's sustainability credentials are backed by an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), an independently verified assessment of a product's environmental impact throughout its life cycle, and comes with a global warranty of up to 15 years, delivering the quality performance, color, style and imagination that architectural customers expect from Interpon powder coatings, with exceptional durability to protect color integrity and performance. It is ideal for the exterior and interior of any architectural or industrial metal surface such as facades, windows, pergolas, fences, railings, metal office equipment and doors where customers require durability and sustainability.
Jeff Jirak, director of the company's powder coatings business, explained: "At a time when every business is looking to play a role in reducing energy and accelerating sustainability, Interpon D1036 Low-E will support our customers in reducing their carbon emissions and help us achieve the goal of reducing carbon emissions by 50% across the entire value chain by 2030."

Its key features include excellent durability to protect color integrity and performance.

In addition to its commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 50% across its entire value chain by 2030, AkzoNobel is committed to achieving 100% material recycling and generating 50% of revenue from sustainable solutions by the end of the decade.
