Crystal India acquips Syngenta's herbicide Gramoxone(Paraquat)trademark for use in its market
Crystal India recently announced the acquisition of the herbicide Gramoxone (active ingredient: Paraquat) trademark from Syngenta for use in the Indian market. Gramoxone is a broad-spectrum insecticidal herbicide, which plays an important role in the conservation tillage operation of reducing soil and water loss and conserving fertilizer and soil moisture due to its unique action mode of quick contact and no root removal.
The managing director of Crystal said the addition of Gramoxone will play an important role in expanding its reach across India and is expected to make a significant contribution. Crystal is now a leading brand in its portfolio of non-selective herbicides for crop protection.
Crystal Crops has been growing through strategic acquisitions, and this is the company's 11th acquisition and its second in 2023. Crystal acquired the Sadanand brand cotton seed portfolio from Kohinoor earlier this year. From 2018 to 2022, Crystal acquired several pesticide and seed brands from Syngenta, FMC and DowduPont. In 2021, Crystal acquired a portfolio of cotton, pearl millet, mustard and sorghum seeds, expanding its reach; In 2018, Crystal strengthened its strength by acquiring a manufacturing facility in Nagpur from Solvay S.A.
With the use of herbicides increasing by 15-20% in the last decade, farmers have become willing to use innovative methods to improve crop yields, and this paradigm shift from manual weeding to the use of herbicides is expected to significantly boost agricultural production in India.
