This Week's Epichlorohydrin Market Prices Remain Stable in China (1.12-1.16)
January 17th, according to reports
This week, the epoxy chloropropane market price remained high due to strong cost support, but the low willingness of downstream buyers to take delivery led to limited actual transactions, resulting in a stalemate where prices are neither rising nor falling. According to the monitoring and analysis system, as of January 16th, the benchmark price of epoxy chloropropane was 11,600 CNY per ton, which is stable compared to the beginning of the month.
Price influencing factors:
On the raw material front: The sustained rise in raw material prices has been the key factor supporting the high and stable prices of epichlorohydrin this week. Recently, spot supply of glycerol in China has tightened, intensifying traders' willingness to hold prices steady; meanwhile, prices on the international market have risen, providing strong cost support for glycerol, the key raw material. Additionally, the increase in propylene prices has provided some support for epichlorohydrin. According to market analysis systems, as of January 16, the benchmark price of propylene stood at 6,084.33 CNY per ton, up 6.41% from the beginning of the month (5,717.67 CNY per ton).
On the demand side: The downstream epoxy resin market is experiencing weak demand, and trading activity is sluggish. Most transactions involve small, immediate-need orders, and buyers are reluctant to accept higher prices for epichlorohydrin, resulting in limited market turnover.
Market Forecast: According to epoxy chloropropane analysts, the high prices at the cost end provide strong support, while downstream demand remains weak, resulting in a sluggish trading atmosphere. Epoxy chloropropane manufacturers are adopting a bearish stance, and trading activity is subdued. Most transactions involve small, essential orders. It is expected that in the near term, epoxy chloropropane market prices will likely remain relatively stable. Further attention should be paid to changes in raw material prices and shifts in market supply and demand.
