1. Collaboration with Compugen: Advancing Novel Antibody Therapy
Gilead Sciences recently announced an exclusive licensing agreement with Israeli biotechnology company Compugen for their preclinical antibody program, COM503. Under the agreement, Gilead will make a $60 million upfront payment to Compugen, with an additional $30 million milestone payment upon the completion of the IND application in 2024. Compugen has the potential to receive up to $758 million in development, regulatory, and commercial milestone payments, along with royalties on global net sales. The collaboration focuses on COM503, a potential "first-in-class" clinical-stage anti-interleukin-18 binding protein (IL-18BP) antibody, aiming to inhibit cancer growth by blocking the interaction between IL-18 binding protein and IL-18 in the tumor microenvironment.

2. Expansion of Partnership with Arcellx and Arcus Biosciences: Advancing Cell Therapies
Gilead's subsidiary, Kite, has expanded its strategic partnership with Arcellx, receiving a $200 million equity investment, resulting in an expected 13% ownership stake in Arcellx. Additionally, Gilead and Arcus Biosciences have extended their collaboration in oncology and included innovative therapies for inflammatory diseases. Gilead has obtained exclusive early-stage options for up to four targets in the field of inflammatory diseases, with potential payments reaching $1 billion in option fees and milestone payments.

3. Collaboration with EVOQ Therapeutics: Advancing Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus Treatments
Gilead entered into a collaboration and license agreement with EVOQ Therapeutics to advance novel therapies for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and lupus. The agreement grants Gilead exclusive rights to EVOQ's NanoDisc technology for candidate products aimed at RA and lupus indications. Gilead will be responsible for clinical development and commercialization, while EVOQ has the potential to receive up to $658.5 million in upfront, option exercise, and milestone payments, as well as tiered royalties on product sales.

4. Acquisition of MiroBio and XinThera: Expanding Therapeutic Platforms
Gilead completed the acquisition of UK-based MiroBio, which focuses on restoring immune balance through immune checkpoint agonists, for $405 million. This acquisition provides Gilead with MiroBio's proprietary discovery platform and portfolio of immune checkpoint agonist products. Additionally, Gilead acquired privately-held biotechnology company XinThera, based in San Diego, to complement its existing clinical development priorities and add validated pipeline assets in oncology and inflammation, although the acquisition price was undisclosed.

Gilead Sciences has demonstrated its commitment to expanding its therapeutic offerings through strategic collaborations and acquisitions. The partnerships and acquisitions with Compugen, Arcellx, Arcus Biosciences, EVOQ Therapeutics, MiroBio, and XinThera highlight Gilead's dedication to advancing innovative therapies across multiple therapeutic areas. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and accessing promising drug candidates, Gilead aims to address critical unmet medical needs and continue its mission of improving patient outcomes.
