In 2023, the European Commission issued a formal notice of non-approval for seven active substances approved under the Plant Protection Regulation (EC) 1107/2007 or the old regulation Directive 91/414/EEC.

The approval decision is based on the scientific evaluation of the data by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), as well as the approval criteria for active substances under current regulations, and the following is a review of those pesticide active substances that were officially "abandoned" by the EU in 2023, and withdrew from the EU market because there was no support for re-review or re-review applications were withdrawn.

It is a phospholipid and cell wall biosynthesis inhibitor, which can inhibit the growth of mycelia, the germination and formation of spores and sporangia, and can prevent and control vegetable, grape downy mildew, potato late blight, etc.

5. Metiram

Metiram is an excellent protective fungicide, mainly used to control vegetable downy mildew, anthracnose, brown blotch and so on.

In addition, according to the provisions of the Plant Protection Regulation (EC) 1107/2007 on the re-evaluation of substances, the re-evaluation applicant must submit a re-evaluation application for the substance three years before the expiry of the active substance's validity period, and the following active substances are due to no support for re-evaluation or the re-evaluation application is withdrawn.
