Usalco Acquires Brenntag Southwest Coagulant Business
According to Chemanager news on January 4, 2024, water treatment chemicals company Usalco has acquired the coagulant manufacturing business of Brenntag Southwest, the U.S. subsidiary of Germany-based chemical distributor Brenntag. Terms of the deal, including the purchase price, were not disclosed.
Brenntag's coagulants business is headquartered in Houston, Texas, and serves a variety of municipal and commercial water treatment customers in Texas, which Usalco says is one of its key growth regions. Upon completion of the transaction, Usalco will move production to its existing manufacturing site in the region.
Usalco CEO Ken Gayer said Brenntag's coagulants business is an important addition to Usalco and the acquisition expands its customer base in the Texas region, a key growth area for Usalco. This also marks the fifth acquisition completed by Usalco in the past three years.
Tom Crain, president of Brenntag Southwest said Brenntag is a major distributor of water treatment chemicals, and manufacturing is not a core area of its strategy. Usalco is a valued manufacturing partner for Brenntag across the United States and can be relied upon to continue to provide them and their customers with quality products.
