Safety Evaluation of β-Galactosidase for Lactose Hydrolysis in the EU
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has released an opinion on the safety assessment of β-galactosidase, a food enzyme produced by non-genetically modified Papiliotrema terrestris strain AE-BLC, used for the production of low-level lactose hydrolysis.
The safety evaluation of β-galactosidase, a food enzyme employed in the production of low-level lactose hydrolysis, has been examined by the European Food Safety Authority. The expert panel's assessment indicates that while there may be a low possibility of allergic reactions from dietary exposure, the overall likelihood remains minimal.
