Bridgepoint Acquires Gryphon Investors' Brand RoC Skincare
RoC Skincare has been acquired by investment group Bridgepoint, in a deal that will see Gryphon Investors, the current owner of the skin care brand, sell its majority stake to Bridgepoint. The deal is expected to close in February for an undisclosed amount.
Bridgepoint's portfolio includes French skincare brand Vivacy and hyaluronic acid maker HTL. Bridgepoint will support RoC Skincare as it pursues its goal of growing its business in traditional European markets, particularly its native France. The company said it expects to benefit from Bridgepoint's strong presence in the region and experience supporting dermatology brands.
Fernando Acosta, CEO of RoC Skincare, said: "With Bridgepoint's deep expertise in dermatology and its strong presence in Europe, RoC is well-positioned to capitalize on the promising growth opportunities ahead. Through the hard work and innovation of RoC's talented team, we have become one of the world's largest independent skin care brands, while staying true to our commitment to delivering the best, clinically proven skin health solutions. "
Founded in 1957 by Jean-Charles Lissarrague, RoC specializes in skin care products for aging skin, and its best-sellers include the Retinol Correxion range. The company, which was acquired from Johnson & Johnson by Gryphon Investors in 2020, said it saw revenue grow 70% on growing consumer demand for skin beauty products. Today, the brand is sold to countries including the United States, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, Australia, and China.
Fabrice Turcq, Partner at Bridgepoint, added: "Under Fernando's leadership, RoC has become an impressive independent business with a rich European heritage and dermatology expertise. The company's unique, clinically proven products targeting aging skin conditions are a compelling customer proposition with significant growth opportunities. With the support of Bridgepoint, RoC is poised to accelerate growth in Europe and beyond, strengthen its online presence and expand its product range. "
