THG May Lay Off 160 Employees
THG is said to be cutting 160 jobs across its marketing, sales and warehouse teams.
The British retail group has begun consultations on job cuts at its technology subsidiary Ingenuity, which will last until mid-March, The Times reported. A spokesman for THG Ingenuity said it was reviewing operational efficiencies across the business to align with its strategic focus on large enterprise customers.
"Subject to the ongoing consultation process, these changes may result in some redundancies. While this is regrettable, THG will support all colleagues affected by these changes. This includes exploring redeployment opportunities across the Group where appropriate. " The spokesperson said.
THG is also said to be planning to cut a further 100 jobs at its Omega warehouse in Warrington, UK, as the factory becomes automated.
According to the Warrington Guardian, an internal email sent to staff read: Following consultations, The Hut Group proposed reducing the number of employees at the Omega factory. 688 staff will be at risk and the current proposals are for around 100 staff to be made redundant.
THG's beauty portfolio includes online retailers Lookfantastic and Cult Beauty. And subscription service Glossybox; cosmetics company Illamasqua and spa brand Espa, among others. The group also operates a nutritional products business, which includes companies such as My Protein.
THG recently returned to growth in the fourth quarter, with group revenue rising 1.1% to £597.9m. Growth was driven by higher sales in the group's beauty division, with strong performances from Cult Beauty, Espa and Perricone MD.
