Black Bay Acquires Merichem's Technology and Catalysts Business
Black Bay Energy Capital (Black Bay), a New Orleans-based private equity firm focused on the energy and specialty chemicals sectors, announced the acquisition of Merichem's technology business unit, which consists of Merichem Process Technologies and Merichem Catalyst Products (collectively known as Merichem Technologies).
Grace Matthews, Inc. served as financial advisor to Merichem in connection with this transaction.
As an independent platform, Merichem Technologies will be a global supplier of sulfur treatment technologies and solutions as well as a suite of proprietary chemical catalysts.
Merichem Technologies CEO Cyndie Fredrick said: "Merichem Company has been an excellent steward of this business for decades, and the entire Merichem Technologies team is excited about our new partnership with Black Bay and our ability to pursue new avenues for growth. "
"Sulfur treatment is a critical path project for many industrial applications around the world. Hydrogen sulfide (H2S), mercaptan, carbon dioxide (CO2), and other related impurities must be treated to ensure environmental compliance, sustainable operations, and a marketable end product. We are excited to partner with the Merichem Technologies team to accelerate growth and expand our portfolio of solutions to help customers achieve their operational and environmental goals." said Black Bay partner Tom Ambrose.
Black Bay Vice President Sam Scofield added: "We believe that Merichem Technologies is the right platform to create a comprehensive, industry-agnostic sulfur treatment solutions provider"
"This divestiture is an important milestone for Merichem Technologies as we continue to execute on our strategic vision and further solidify our leadership position in caustic services. I am also excited to work with the Merichem Technologies team and investors , helping them take their technology businesses to the next level," said Kendra Lee, Chairman and CEO of Merichem Company.
