MSL forms US subsidiary to strengthen MoCRA support

ECHEMI 2024-04-01

UK regulatory and microbiological testing body MSL Solution Providers has established a US company to strengthen market support.

By forming MSL Regulatory Solutions Inc., the company can strengthen its services to cosmetics and personal care brands selling products into the United States.

It also enables the company to serve as U.S. agent for facilities required to register in the U.S. under the Cosmetics Regulations Modernization Act (MoCRA) rules of 2022.

MoCRA strengthens the powers of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), increasing scrutiny and improving the safety of cosmetics sold in the United States.

Companies have until July 1 to comply with requirements related to registration of cosmetics factories and listing of cosmetics to maintain access to the $430 billion market.

With extensive experience working with U.S. cosmetics and personal care product manufacturers, MSL can help companies prepare and ensure compliance should enforcement take effect.

"We are committed to helping cosmetics companies do business in light of the new rules set by MoCRA - establishing MSL Regulatory Solutions Inc. is just one of the steps we are taking to expand our product range and support our customers in selling products into the United States.” said Alex Fotheringham, Director of Operations, MSL Solution Provider. “While there is still some breathing room ahead of the first deadline, our advice is to be prepared to continue trading compliantly in the US from July 2024.”

MSL's MoCRA Principal Support Services include: Serving as U.S. Agent; Facility Registration; Product Listing; FDA and State Regulatory Agency Compliance Inspections of Formulations; Ingredient Safety Support; Developing Product Information Files (PIFs); Artwork checks; Record keeping and collection of adverse events; development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for adverse events; accelerated stability studies; preservative efficacy (challenge) testing.
