Taiwan Emerges as Top Market for Paraguayan Pork Exports in the First Two Months
In a recent report by the National Animal Quality and Health Service of Paraguay (Senacsa), it has been revealed that Taiwan has become the highest-priced market for Paraguayan pork exports in the first two months of this year. This development signals a positive growth trend for Paraguay's meat industry in international trade.
According to the report released by Senacsa, Paraguay's meat exports have experienced a slight increase in the first quarter of this year. Taiwan, specifically, has emerged as the market with the highest prices for Paraguayan pork exports. This positive development comes in the wake of a complex export situation caused by a decrease in export volume.
During the first two months of this year, the total export volume of meat, offal, and other animal products from Paraguay amounted to approximately 129,800 tons, with an export value of $430.5 million. The export volume of meat and offal alone accounted for 79,590 tons, showing a decrease of nearly 5,000 tons compared to the same period last year. However, the export value of meat and offal increased by 0.3% ($1 million) to reach $333.1 million. This growth can be attributed to the higher export prices observed this year.
In terms of pork exports, Taiwan has emerged as the highest-priced market. According to the Paraguayan Pig Farming Association (ACCP), Taiwan purchased 1,257 tons of Paraguayan pork during the first two months of this year, at an average price of $2,981 per ton. The total value of these exports to Taiwan exceeded $3.7 million. Since Taiwan opened its doors to Paraguayan pork imports in November 2022, the market share of Paraguayan pork in Taiwan has significantly increased. Taiwan has now become a key destination for Paraguayan pork exports.
The first two months of this year have witnessed Taiwan's rise as the top market for Paraguayan pork exports, with the highest prices recorded. This positive development reflects the growing demand and trust in the quality of Paraguayan pork in international markets. It also highlights the importance of international trade partnerships in driving the growth of the meat industry in Paraguay. As Taiwan continues to be a prominent market for Paraguayan pork, the future looks promising for both countries' trade relations in the agricultural sector.
