Thailand Clears the Path for Vitamin Use: Streamlined Approval for Supplements

Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration has cut red tape for vitamin and mineral use in foods, issuing a landmark notice on November 17, 2025, that eliminates redundant safety reviews for approved forms. Companies can now use ingredients listed in Annex 1 for dietary supplements and Annex 2 for general fortified foods without submitting new toxicology data.

The move explicitly allows reference to EU regulations for ingredient validation—a nod to international harmonization. However, strict rules remain for infant formula and medical foods, where composition is tightly controlled.

By aligning with global standards and reducing bureaucratic friction, Thailand aims to boost its nutraceutical industry while ensuring consumer safety. It’s a win for both public health and business efficiency.
