Sophim acquires Novastell and expands into nutritional supplements
Sophim announces acquisition of nutritional and functional ingredients supplier Novastell. The deal was completed in September 2023, and the team will make an official presentation in early 2024 in Peruvian, southern France.
Last year, the French manufacturer of natural cosmetic ingredients, which specializes in plant-based squalane, received €20 million in financing to accelerate its development.
Sophim already has a strong position in the cosmetics and pharmaceuticals sectors and views the acquisition of Novastell as a new step in its diversification and continued growth.
With this integration, Sophim will increase consolidated sales to 36 million euros in 2023 and its total number of employees to 80.
Jacques Margnat, Chairman and CEO of Sophim, said: "There are increasing synergies between cosmetics and nutraceuticals. This acquisition will allow us to accelerate growth and bring new products to market faster. "
"This acquisition is particularly important given the convergence of our business models, as Novastell, like Sophim, uses by-products of the petroleum industry to create ingredients for the nutraceutical industry. This match not only reflects our shared values, but also responds to market dynamics and enhances the strategic relevance of our combination.” added Sophim Managing Director Alexis Margnat.
As experts in lipids and phospholipids, Novastell offers a broad range of nutritional and functional ingredients for maternal and women's health, memory and focus, digestive health, stress management, skin health, sports nutrition, inflammation, healthy aging, and brain recognition, liver protection, cardiovascular health, etc.
