The specific preservative detected in the jelly was potassium sorbate, with levels exceeding the permitted limit of 0.07 g/kg.

The manufacturer in Vietnam responsible for this non-compliant batch of jelly was identified as LAI PHU CORPORATION, while the importing company in Taiwan was named North Coast Limited. The product was marketed under the brand name CHERISH.

This discovery raises significant concerns about food safety and the adherence to regulations in the jelly manufacturing industry. The presence of excessive preservatives poses potential health risks to consumers and highlights the importance of rigorous quality control measures.

In response to this violation, the authorities have taken swift action. The entire batch of non-compliant jelly, weighing 1,020.00 kilograms, has either been returned or destroyed, ensuring that it does not reach consumers.
