BASF launches new clearcoats and undercoats for Asia Pacific refinish market
BASF’s coatings division has launched a new portfolio of eco-efficient clearcoats and undercoats that offer higher quality and higher productivity and help to significantly reduce CO2 emissions. With this comprehensive product portfolio, BASF aims to support body shops in improving profitability and sustainability.
These new products have been approved by leading automotive OEMs, demonstrating their sustainability and technical qualities. With BASF’s biomass balance approach, the manufacturing process effectively reduces CO2 emissions by replacing fossil raw materials with renewable raw materials. Through a closed chain of custody and independent certification, BASF ensures the integrity of the Biomass Balance product and is certified under the REDcert2 certification program.
Today, body shops are looking for new ways to increase efficiency and profitability to remain competitive while meeting customer demands for sustainability. Next generation clearcoats and undercoats directly address these requirements.
Susann Kluge, Vice President Automotive Refinish Solutions, BASF Asia Pacific, said:"Our new portfolio of leading coatings has been specifically designed to help body shops significantly reduce process times while reducing material and energy consumption. “We can now offer total solutions to body shops, which demonstrates our commitment to becoming an industry leader in sustainability."
Following the successful launch of the Glasurit 100 Series and RM® AGILIS undercoats series in 2020, BASF’s latest coatings have a VOC (volatile organic compound) value of less than 250 g/l, further expanding the environmentally friendly option for the automotive repair industry. These innovative coatings feature fast UV-A and air-drying direct-to-metal coating solutions, saving time and costs.
The new product portfolio under the Glasurit AraClass and RM Pioneer series will be gradually introduced to the Asia-Pacific market in 2024. Meanwhile, body shops looking for efficient, streamlined solutions can look forward to the Glasurit ProClass and RM Advance ranges, with easy-to-use clearcoats and primers designed to improve workflow, also launching in 2024.
