Henkel to Acquire Olaplex in $1.4 Billion Deal
Henkel has agreed to acquire premium haircare brand Olaplex in a deal valued at approximately $1.4 billion, marking a significant step in its push into higher-end beauty categories. The transaction will be executed at $2.06 per share in cash, representing about a 55% premium over Olaplex’s closing price prior to the announcement.
The acquisition has received unanimous approval from Olaplex’s board, with its majority shareholder Advent International also backing the deal and preparing to exit its investment once the transaction is completed. The closing is expected in the second half of 2026, subject to regulatory clearance and customary conditions.
Strategically, the move strengthens Henkel’s position in premium haircare, a segment it has been actively expanding. Olaplex brings a science-driven product portfolio and strong credibility among professional stylists, alongside a well-established direct-to-consumer and specialty retail presence, particularly in North America. By integrating this with Henkel’s global distribution network and R&D capabilities, the company aims to accelerate international expansion and product innovation.
Olaplex will continue to operate under its existing brand following the acquisition, maintaining its identity while benefiting from Henkel’s scale and infrastructure. The combination is expected to create synergies across professional salon channels and consumer markets, while opening up new opportunities for technology development and faster product rollout.
The deal also reflects broader shifts within the beauty industry, where large consumer groups are increasingly focusing on high-margin, science-led brands. For Henkel, acquiring Olaplex not only enhances its premium portfolio but also signals a long-term commitment to innovation-led growth in haircare.
