Circa signs OEM agreement with Merck to supply and sell Cyrene
Sustainable biochemicals company Circa Group AS and leading technology company Merck have announced the finalization of an agreement to supply Cyrene, Circa's sustainable bioderived industrial solvent.
Circa CEO Bertel Karlstedt said: "The formalization of this business partnership, developed over the past five-plus years, is an important step forward for Cyrene’s global marketing and distribution. “Our goal is to meet the needs of researchers and organizations around the world looking for alternatives to hazardous solvents that minimize environmental health impacts while improving product performance."
Cyrene is a bio-based solvent that demonstrates circularity, sustainability and safety at every stage of its life cycle. From fossil-free, non-food ingredients to recyclability and end-of-life disposal, Cyrene™ is a safer, more sustainable alternative to traditional toxic petroleum-based solvents like dimethylformamide (DMF).
The DMF market is expected to reach $545.4 million by 2030, growing at an average CAGR of 4.8% between 2024 and 2030. However, given government regulations and concerns about human health and the environment, there is growing demand for alternatives.
Named Sustainability Product of the Year by the Business Intelligence Group Sustainability Awards and Top Product by the Environment + Energy Leadership Awards, Cyrene is a promising choice for a variety of applications.
