Enhancing Agricultural Trade Collaboration: Vietnam's Participation in Italy's Fruit and Vegetable Exhibition

ECHEMI 2024-05-11

Vietnam's engagement in the 41st Italy Fruit and Vegetable Exhibition held in Rimini, Emilia-Romagna, from May 8th to May 10th, marks a significant step towards fostering agricultural trade integration. The Vietnamese Embassy in Italy showcased the country's orchards, exotic spices, and herbs, presenting a unique opportunity for bilateral collaboration and exploration of agricultural cooperation potential.

Promoting Trade Connectivity:

During the exhibition's opening ceremony, the provincial government of Rimini expressed its commitment to facilitating exchanges and discussions on agricultural cooperation between localities and enterprises from both Vietnam and Italy. Representatives from the Italian Agricultural Confederation (Confagricoltura) acknowledged the distinct tropical fruits of Vietnam, such as dragon fruit, rambutan, passion fruit, and mangosteen, which are not cultivated in Italy. They expressed their desire for increased import and export activities between the two countries, particularly in these fruit varieties.

Support and Cooperation:

Renzo Piracini, the Chairman of the Italy Fruit and Vegetable Exhibition, extended his support and willingness to facilitate collaboration between Vietnamese and Italian counterparts. The exhibition attracted immense support from domestic stakeholders and enterprises, showcasing a diverse range of high-quality Vietnamese products and garnering substantial attention from visitors.

Trade Facilitation:

In addition to the exhibition and the business-to-business (B2B) agricultural trade meetings organized by the Vietnamese Embassy, Vietnamese representatives engaged in productive discussions with Italian partners, exploring avenues for cooperation. The Italy Fruit and Vegetable Exhibition, hosting over 1,400 exhibitors, including a significant foreign presence, stands as Italy's largest international agricultural fair. Vietnamese participants regarded the event not only as an opportunity to showcase their products but also as a platform to gain insights into market trends, establish connections in the agri-food supply chain, and explore emerging agricultural technologies.

The participation of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Italy Fruit and Vegetable Exhibition signifies Vietnam's commitment to expanding agricultural trade horizons and strengthening collaboration with Italy. The event provided an ideal platform for Vietnamese enterprises to introduce their premium products, foster trade relationships, and gain valuable knowledge about the development trends in agriculture, food production, processing, and trade. The fruitful engagement between Vietnam and Italy at the exhibition sets the stage for enhanced agricultural trade connectivity and mutually beneficial partnerships in the future.
