U.S. Revises Cyantraniliprole Residue Limits in Select Food Products
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recently announced the revision of residue limits for the insecticide Cyantraniliprole in various food commodities. This regulatory update was published in the Federal Register on May 15, 2024, under regulation number 2024-10490.
The EPA's risk assessment evaluated the toxicological profile, dietary exposure, and potential impact on infants and children. Based on this comprehensive analysis, the agency has established the following revised maximum residue limits (MRLs) deemed safe for consumption:
| Commodity | Parts per million (ppm) |
| Avocado | 0.4 |
| Table Grapes | 2 |

It is important to note that as of May 15, 2024, these commodities do not have registered uses in the United States.
The revised regulation becomes effective immediately, with a 60-day period for submitting any objections or requests for a hearing, which must be filed by July 15, 2024.
This update provides clarity and ensures the safe use of Cyantraniliprole in the production of various food items, while taking into account the latest scientific evidence and regulatory considerations. Stakeholders in the food industry are advised to review and comply with these new residue limits to maintain product safety and alignment with the updated U.S. standards.
