Vietnam's Food Processing Enterprises Seize Opportunities at the 2024 Canadian Food Expo

ECHEMI 2024-05-21

The 2024 SIAL Canada, the largest food and beverage industry exhibition in North America, recently concluded in Montreal, Canada, attracting over 20,000 visitors from more than 40 countries. Two Vietnamese companies, Tufoco and Sapo DAKLAK, participated in the event, showcasing their products and exploring export opportunities to the Canadian market.

According to Chen Qiujing, the Commercial Counselor at the Vietnamese Embassy in Canada, the embassy's commercial department has been assisting Vietnamese enterprises, particularly small and medium-sized food processing exporters, to participate in the SIAL Canada exhibition for years. The department provides them with relevant information about the event.

Tufoco, one of the Vietnamese exhibitors, showcased its coconut juice and canned coconut milk products. The company sees the North American market as a rapidly growing market that aligns with its strategic objectives. The company also aims to provide Vietnamese products to the Vietnamese community in Canada.

Sapo DAKLAK, the other Vietnamese participant, exhibited its range of frozen fruits and vegetables processed according to international standards. The frozen produce market is considered a fast-growing segment that can potentially substitute the export of fresh Vietnamese fruits and vegetables to Canada.

In addition to exploring direct export opportunities for agricultural and food products to Canada, Vietnamese enterprises can also collaborate with local companies to increase the added value of their agricultural products through joint production and further processing.

The participation of Vietnamese food processing enterprises in the 2024 SIAL Canada exhibition highlights the growing potential for Vietnamese exports to the Canadian market. By leveraging the support of the Vietnamese embassy's commercial department and exploring various partnership opportunities, Vietnamese companies can capitalize on the opportunities presented by this prominent international food industry event.
