Braskem launches Octane Plus, expanding its fuel portfolio
Braskem is the largest polyolefin producer in the Americas and a leading global producer of biopolymers. The company announced the expansion of its fuels portfolio with the launch of Octane Plus, focused on serving the premium segment of the global automotive fuels market. Octane Plus is an additive mixed during the gasoline production process to increase the octane rating of the fuel.
The addition of Braskem's Octane Plus enhances the fuel's ability to withstand extreme temperatures, which is critical in high-performance engines that require high-octane gasoline for maximum power output.
"Braskem is one of the world’s largest suppliers of chemical and petrochemical products and we are pleased to introduce Octane Plus to the market as the latest addition to our fuels portfolio. Octane Plus delivers higher quality and performance fuel, taking it to new levels of power and efficiency." comments Eduardo Camelyer, Braskem Commercial Head of Gasoline and Blending Stocks. “The launch of the unique Octane Plus fuel additive supports Braskem’s goal of delivering value-added product volumes to customers while also facilitating new gasoline formulation business opportunities. We look forward to delivering all the benefits of our premium Octane Plus.”
Octane Plus' proprietary development process is conducted at the company's petrochemical complex in Triunfo, Rio Grande do Sul state, Brazil. Current production will be dedicated to export volumes, primarily to meet strong octane demand in Central and North America. Customer deliveries are expected to increase further in the coming months as the first export shipments from Brazil have begun.
Braskem’s fuel portfolio strives to combine quality, performance and sustainability and meet the high standards required by the market and regulatory authorities. Octane Plus joins Braskem’s fuel portfolio, which covers a range of premium and regular gasolines, low-sulfur oils, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and other specialty gases, as well as other octane and oxygenate enhancers.
