Avery Dennison adds repositioning capabilities to its CleanFlake adhesive technology
Avery Dennison Corporation has achieved a new milestone with its CleanFlake adhesive technology, which improves PET recycling by cleanly removing labels during the recycling process. CleanFlake is accredited by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR).
New and improved CleanFlake technology includes a repositioning feature that allows labels to be manually removed from PET substrates within 8 hours, which is particularly useful in the event of label misalignment during automated labeling processes. This feature helps prevent the wastage of bottles and their contents, not only minimizing waste but also encouraging efficient use of resources.
The latest CleanFlake was also recognized for meeting or exceeding APR’s voluntary requirements for design for recyclability. According to Avery Dennison, the solution was evaluated using the most stringent industry-recognized standards and covers a wide range of design features that impact plastic recycling.
Avery Dennison explained in a statement: “CleanFlake’s facestock and liner contain recycled materials or are made using fewer resources, providing a fully sustainable label construction that demonstrates the company’s commitment to driving sustainable practices while also maintaining a commitment to high performance standards, CleanFlake integrates seamlessly with current value chains and requires no additional investment to transition from traditional labels.”
