Adama launches an innovative insecticide containing Acetamiprid and Pyriproxyfen in Brazil

2024-06-26

Recently, at Expocitros Brazil 2024, ADAMA launched a new insecticide, Trivor (Acetamiprid + Pyriproxyfen), designed to control the bacterial vector that spreads Citrus greening disease - Diaphorina citri.

The Diaphorina citri, an insect as small as 2 to 3 mm, carries the bacterium Candidatus Liberibacter spp that causes Citrus greening disease, which is currently the most serious disease affecting citrus growing, causing huge damage not only in Brazil but also in other producing areas such as Florida in the United States. In the face of this uncontrollable disease, the only solution is to eradicate the contaminated area completely, ADAMA said.

However, the continuous use of products with the same mechanism of action has led to pest resistance, which undoubtedly increases the difficulty of control work. In this context, the launch of Trivor is particularly important. Not only does it control all stages of the life cycle of the Diaphorina citri, from egg to adult, effectively breaking the breeding cycle of the pest, but it also provides a new solution to rotate the active ingredients and protect the useful life of the product

Brazil is the world's largest producer and exporter of oranges, and citrus cultivation has strategic and priority for the country's agricultural enterprises. The launch of Trivor not only brings new hope to the Brazilian citrus industry, but also provides support for the sustainable development of the global citrus growing industry.

It is worth mentioning that Trivor has been certified by the ProteCitros project developed by Fundecitros (Citrus Conservation Foundation) for the export of fruit from target orchards, which further proves its effectiveness.
