Albaugh launches Afiado (Acetamiprid + Bifenthrin) for effective control of soybean stinkbug in Brazil
Albaugh recently revealed that it will launch the soybean insecticide Afiado (Acetamiprid + Bifenthrin) in Brazil. This new solution has had a significant effect in controlling the soybean stinkbug, which is considered a difficult pest to control throughout the harvest.
Albaugh said the product has a strong knockdown effect and lasts a long time, does not imbalance the population of mites and other stink bug predators, and is effective in killing whitefly.
Afiado works by contact, ingestion and tarsal contact, and compared to products on the market with the same ingredients, it uses a new formulation, namely liquid, which meets farmers' expectations and is more modern and easier to configure, handle and administer. According to Albaugh, the solution avoids physical and chemical incompatibilities, is odorless, and simplifies handling logistics.
Stinkbugs are one of the most harmful potential pests to oilseed crops. It is a silent insect and must be monitored from the beginning of planting. When an infestation is present, especially in the soybean pod, the grain does not develop properly. The resulting loss of production could exceed 30%.
As part of a number of initiatives to introduce the Afiado insecticide, Albaugh made public the results of studies on Piezodorus guildini and Euchistus heros, pests that are difficult to control on oilseed crops. The trial covered assessment tests from 1 to 10 days after application of Afiado and other insecticides, with intervals of 4 and 7 days after application. The results showed that the control effect of Afiado was 70%~87.5%, while that of the control product was 85%. In the control of the brown stink bug, the control effect of Afiado was 68% to 80%, while the control product was 75%.
Albaugh said the launch of Afiado meets a strategic need for producers, and its use in combination with the company's other pesticide technology, Krypto (Methomyl + Bifenthrin), can greatly improve the effectiveness of oil crop growers in controlling bugs and caterpillars.
