Korea Tightens Import Inspection for Chinese Monosodium Glutamate
On July 5th, the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued specific import inspection guidelines for monosodium glutamate (MSG) imported from China. The guidelines primarily target the MSG products produced by TONGLIAO MEIHUA BIOLOGICAL SCI-TECH CO., LTD., a foreign manufacturer.
The comprehensive inspection program includes a focus on purity testing (for chlorides) and other comprehensive analyses. This measure is taken to ensure that food additives exported from China meet Korea's safety standards and protect consumer health. It also demonstrates Korea's stringent regulatory system for food imports.
