Clariant expands cooperation with Wanhua Chemical Group
During a visit to Wanhua Chemical Group on July 12, Clariant CEO Conrad Keijzer and his leadership team held talks on expanding the business relationship. "We see great opportunities to further develop our successful cooperation with Wanhua," he said. Clariant and Wanhua signed a strategic cooperation agreement in May 2022.
Liao Zengtai, Chairman of Wanhua Group, warmly welcomed Conrad Keijzer and his leadership team. Both parties look forward to deepening their cooperation, one example of which is the digital transformation of Clariant's catalyst service CLARITY™, which provides rapid insights into catalyst performance. This is essential for optimizing operations and improving the efficiency of various chemical processes.
Clariant also provides its industry-leading CATOFIN® catalyst technology for Wanhua's world-scale propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant in Penglai. CATOFIN's outstanding reliability and productivity enable superior production yields, thereby improving the overall profitability of the plant.
"Sustainability is of great importance to both Wanhua and ChemChina," said Liao Zengtai. "We are pleased to deepen our cooperation with Clariant and work together to achieve carbon neutrality." The prospects and technologies of sustainable formaldehyde are one of the key topics. In fact, Clariant has a number of projects around the world to convert CO2 into formaldehyde. The innovative MegaMax® catalyst makes it easier to convert CO2 into methanol, which helps to produce clean and versatile fuels and chemicals.
"As one of the largest chemical producers in China, Wanhua plays an important role in promoting the high-quality development of China's chemical industry. We are committed to growing with Wanhua in this dynamic market through innovative and sustainable solutions, world-class operating facilities and digital customer service," said Conrad Keijzer.
The visit started at Wanhua R&D Center and Wanhua University, and then came to Penglai Chemical Park. With the advantages of the wind power mother port, there are 20 green new material production enterprises in the park, with an output value of more than 7 billion yuan in 2023. "I am impressed to see the professionalism shown by the park and Wanhua in all activities," emphasized Conrad Keijzer. Clariant is pleased to support Penglai Chemical Park towards a low-carbon and sustainable future.
