HMG Paints Launches Hydrosol for Metal Fabrication
HMG Paints Ltd, the UK’s largest independent paint manufacturer, has announced the launch of Hydrosol, a new hybrid coating designed specifically for the metal fabrication market.
These protective coatings combine the superior performance of solvent-based coatings with the environmental benefits of water-based products, giving users the opportunity to reduce VOC emissions without compromising performance. The first product to launch in the range is Hydrosol QD Primer.
Hydrosol QD Primer is an alkyd-based, fast-drying primer designed for ultimate versatility and efficiency. It offers excellent adhesion, superior moisture resistance and superior corrosion protection thanks to the addition of modified zinc phosphate.
This primer is ideal for use on properly prepared structural steel, chassis and steelwork and can be easily applied using roller, airless or traditional spray methods.
Early adopters of Hydrosol QD Primer have discovered several benefits, including greater coverage and more efficient application compared to competing products. One of the key reasons for this is that Hydrosol QD Primer has a volume solids content of 55%, compared to approximately 40% for similar competitor products.
Paddy Dyson, Marketing Manager at HMG Paints, said: “Our new Hydrosol QD Primer represents a significant advancement in protective coatings and is testament to the hard work our R&D team put into bringing innovation to the market. This product not only meets the high performance standards our customers have come to expect from us, but also aligns with our commitment to environmental sustainability. This is the first piece of our Hydrosol brand jigsaw puzzle, with a wide range of exciting products set to join the range in the near future.”
The second product to join the range is Hydrosol Compliant DTM, a direct-to-metal coating that can be applied directly to bare or primed metal surfaces. The product is PG6/23 11 compliant and is ideal for use as a single coat primer for racks, hoppers, containers, agricultural and construction equipment and machinery.
This new addition to the Hydrosol range will be an ideal choice for OEMs and refinishers due to its lower VOC content than solvent-based counterparts and its availability in a wide range of colours including RAL and BS.
All HMG Paints products, including the new Hydrosol range, are manufactured in Manchester under strict quality controls under an ISO 9001 management system.
