BASF Personal Care Launches Ameriflor Calm

BASF's Personal Care division has launched Ameriflor Calm, a botanical active ingredient designed to enhance the natural elasticity of sensitive skin. Derived from Prunella vulgaris, it helps reduce redness, minimize transepidermal water loss, and protect against environmental stressors.

This innovative product not only helps reduce redness and transepidermal water loss, but also protects against environmental aggressors. Made with ingredients from Regenerative Organic Alliance-certified regenerative organic farms in Oregon and manufactured in the United States using 100% renewable electricity, Ameriflor Calm reflects BASF's commitment to sustainability and ethical practices.

Ameriflor Calm was tested in a clinical study in participants with signs of sensitive skin using a 1% concentration for 28 days, with assessments at baseline, 7 days, and 28 days. After 7 days, the ingredient demonstrated a 10% improvement in redness, a significant improvement compared to the placebo group (8%), with continued positive effects observed after 28 days. After 7 days of use, transepidermal water loss was also significantly improved by 11% compared to the placebo group.
