Brenntag acquires Monarch Chemicals to strengthen its presence in the UK
Brenntag, a global market leader in the distribution of chemicals and ingredients, has announced the acquisition of Monarch Group Holdings and its UK operating subsidiary, Monarch Chemicals.
Russel Argo, President of Brenntag Essentials EMEA, commented: “The Monarch team has built an outstanding product and service offering for a wide range of customers and supply partners, and we look forward to developing and expanding this offering together. With this transaction, Brenntag gains expertise, infrastructure and enhanced liquid and powder blending capabilities. Through our acquisition strategy, we have expanded our last mile service business to offer customers a broader portfolio of products and value-added services, supported by regional supply chain services within our global network. All of our customers in the UK can benefit from this expanded offering.”
Founded in 1989, Monarch provides expert and reliable distribution services for essential chemicals and blends throughout the UK, supplying products to a variety of industries and product groups, such as inorganic chemicals, citrates and glycols. The company operates multiple plants and blending facilities across the UK. In 2023, the group reported annual sales of £35.1 million.
Jon Hill, Managing Director of Monarch, said: "We are very proud of the level of service and support we can provide to our supply partners and customers. Our independence allows us to be flexible, but joining Brenntag, a truly global distributor, will give us the scale and network to grow our business and better provide our customers with a wider range of products and services."
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. The signing and closing of the transaction took place simultaneously.
