AkzoNobel launches FDA-approved beverage can coating
AkzoNobel launches interior coating technology that is free of bisphenol, styrene, PFAS and formaldehyde.
The company’s Packaging Coatings division has developed AccelshieldTM 300, an interior spray coating for beverage cans that offers excellent corrosion protection, flexibility and organoleptic properties.
The new technology from AkzoNobel has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and major beverage brands, and complies with current and future EU regulations restricting intentionally added bisphenols such as bisphenol A (BPA) and bisphenol F (BPF).
The new product launch follows the launch of AccelshieldTM 700, a styrene- and bisphenol-free interior coating for beverage cans, and AccelstyleTM 100 and 200 overprint varnishes for two-piece aluminium beverage cans, all free of bisphenol, styrene and PFAS.
