PD Ports Renews Ten-Year Agreement with Venator, Renovating One Million Square Feet of Warehouse Space

ECHEMI 2024-09-06

PD Ports is proud to announce a new 10-year contract with global chemical giant Venator. This new contract not only continues two decades of cooperation at the Port of Hartlepool, but also ensures the stability of 24 jobs. PD Ports will provide specialized logistics and warehousing operations for Venator's facility in Dalam, covering the entire process from raw materials to finished products.

This collaboration demonstrates PD Ports' reputation as a trusted partner and valuable asset in the supply chain. The company is committed to working tirelessly for its customers and continues to invest in infrastructure to ensure efficient, safe and cost-effective operations.

Venator Company, as a global leader in the production of titanium dioxide pigments and performance additives, its products are widely used in paint, plastics, textiles, automotive and many other household products and products. In particular, Venator's UK Greatham plant, located near Hartlepool, is one of the company's most productive production sites in Europe. With its professional logistics operations, PD Ports provides full support for the entire process of the plant, ensuring the seamless connection of raw materials from the terminal to the factory, as well as the efficient collection and preparation of the final product for global distribution, demonstrating its professionalism and efficiency in the field of logistics.

Under the terms of the newly signed agreement, PD Ports will soon undertake the refurbishment of the 100,000 square foot warehouse at Hartlepool Terminal, which will further optimize the professional storage services it provides to Venator. The move aims to achieve further streamlining and efficiency gains in logistics services, including doubling the load capacity of terminal levellers. Statistics show that PD Ports receives and distributes about 100,000 tons of pigment pallets for Venator each year, processing an average of about 2,500 pallets per week.

Lee Sanderson, Venator Contract Manager at PD Ports, said: "We have a dedicated team and are very pleased to have signed a new long-term contract with Venator. Over the past two decades, the level of service we provide has exceeded our customers' expectations - we work closely with Venator to understand their needs, optimize our operations, and invest in improvements when necessary. It is the hard work of our team that has allowed us to refine our approach and use space more efficiently without sacrificing processing power or security risks."

Trevor Cairns, senior Manager of Supply Chain Logistics and Procurement at Venator, said: "This contract will support Venator's operational improvement initiatives in supply chain logistics, customer order fulfillment and final production volume growth targets at the Greatham TiO2 facility in the UK. This marks an important milestone, building on a strategic partnership between Venator and PD Ports Logistics that has lasted for more than two decades. Together, we have delivered continuous operational improvements during this time, initially starting at the PD Billingham warehouse and subsequently moving to Stephens House at the Hartlepool facility. The new contractual agreement transfers all operations to the newly refurbished Hartlepool Dock B Shed from December 2024. The new 100,000 square foot facility provides a unified location for all finished products and will further enhance environmental, health and safety (EHS) standards, as well as sustainability goals for trailer/container reception, loading and Venator supply chain. We look forward to this exciting occasion and thank the PD Ports logistics team for their continued support."
