Shin-Etsu Chemical develops heat-shrinkable silicone rubber tube for busbar covering

ECHEMI 2024-09-14

Shin-Etsu Chemical has developed the ST-OR type heat-shrinkable silicone rubber tube for busbar covering for the first time in the industry.

A busbar is a conductive metal strip, usually made of copper or aluminum, used for power connection or power distribution. Busbars have a wide range of applications, not only for switchboards and control panels, but also recently for electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).

Because they are subject to large currents and high voltages, busbars need to be protected with tapes, tubes, or other insulating parts. In particular, busbars used in electric and hybrid vehicles must withstand higher voltages and currents, so insulating parts with more advanced performance, including excellent electrical insulation and heat resistance, are required.

The ST-OR type heat-shrinkable silicone rubber tube for busbar covering that Shin-Etsu Chemical has just developed is a new product that meets these requirements.

Shin-Etsu Chemical develops and supplies high-value-added silicone products with the technical strength and expertise it has accumulated over many years to help customers solve difficult problems and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
