Mongolia Releases Draft Regulations on Wheat Flour, 15-Day Feedback Period Sparks Industry Outcry!
On September 10, 2024, the Mongolian Bureau of Standards and Metrology officially issued a draft standard on wheat flour storage and transportation, and the feedback deadline is set for October 10, 2024. The main elements of the draft are as follows:
(1) The storage and transportation of wheat flour must be carried out in food hygiene warehouses, silos and transport vehicles that comply with food safety regulations;
(2) The warehouse should have good air circulation, the temperature should not be higher than 15 ° C, the relative humidity should not exceed 60%, and should be free from pest pollution, no specific odor, no dirt and moisture-proof measures. The moisture content of unpasteurized wheat flour shall not exceed 15.0%, and the moisture content of packaged and stored wheat flour shall not exceed 15.5%.
(3) For the storage and stacking of packaged wheat flour, clear requirements are stipulated, and it is strictly prohibited to store it near pollution sources such as odor, dust, sunlight, and radiation. Nonconforming or returned products should be stored separately;
(4) Packaged wheat flour shall be transported in a clean, dry, odor-free, pest-free vehicle, ensuring compliance with established safety standards, and shall not be stored or transported with toxic, strongly odorous, explosive or flammable items or products.
