Ukrainian Grain Exports Surge by 68.7%! October Maritime Transportation Totals 5.28 Million Tons
In a statement on Tuesday, the Ukrainian Cereals Association (UGA) noted that Ukraine's exports of cereals and oilseeds by sea and river in October this year reached a staggering 5.28 million tons, an increase of 68.7 percent compared to the same period last year. This remarkable increase shows that Ukraine has made remarkable progress in the export of agricultural products.
Specifically, cereals and oilseeds exports in October 2023 amounted to 3.13 million tons. This figure not only reflects the strong momentum of Ukraine's agricultural production, but also demonstrates its competitiveness in the global agricultural market. In October, Ukraine shipped nearly 4.8 million tons of grains and oilseeds via the Black Sea, while 495,000 tons of goods were shipped via the Danube. In addition, 515,000 tons of agricultural products were exported by rail and 142,000 tons were transported by road.
Among various agricultural products, Ukraine exported 1.65 million tons of wheat, 1.93 million tons of corn, 716,000 tons of soybeans, 475,000 tons of rapeseed, 458,000 tons of sunflower oil and 350,000 tons of barley in October. These figures not only show the diversity of Ukrainian agricultural products, but also reflect its extensive demand on the international market.
Ukraine's Agriculture Ministry further noted in a report this week that grain exports for the 2024/25 year ended November 4 had reached nearly 14.7 million tons, a figure significantly higher than the approximately 9.8 million tons in the same period last year. This growth not only demonstrates Ukraine's strong momentum in agricultural production and exports, but also provides a strong support for the country's economic growth and international trade position.
