Lotte Chemical Reports Q3 Loss of 513.8 Billion KRW, Market Shocked!
Lotte Chemical Corp. said in a financial report released Thursday that it suffered significant financial difficulties in the third quarter, Posting a net loss of 513.8 billion won ($368 million). That compares with a 31.3 billion won net profit a year earlier. This disappointing financial performance was mainly due to a significant increase in operating losses.
In a detailed regulatory filing, Lotte Chemical revealed an operating loss of 413.6 billion won in the July-September period, compared with a profit of 42.6 billion won in the same period last year. Still, the company's revenue rose slightly in the quarter to 5.2 trillion won, up 5.6 percent from a year earlier.
The release of this financial data has aroused widespread concern in the market. According to a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, a financial data company affiliated with Yonhap News Agency, Lotte Chemical's third-quarter loss was 216.5% higher than the average market estimate. The larger-than-expected loss may have a negative impact on the company's stock price and market confidence, while also raising investor concerns about the company's future business strategy and financial condition.
