Mitsui Chemical Will Expand the Production Capacity of MR High Refractive Index Eye Lens Materials
Mitsui Chemical announced plans to increase the production capacity of its world-leading MR Series of high-refractive index lens materials.
Mitsui Chemical is a leader in the field of eyewear products by innovating in the manufacture of lens materials, providing solutions for the entire value chain through the development of various lens materials and high-quality coating materials, in addition to the de facto high refractive index lens material standard MR.
To meet the growing global demand for high-index eye lenses, Mitsui Chemical plans to build a new plant on top of its existing MR Plant at its Omuta plant, which is expected to begin commercial operations in the first half of 2028.
Through the Vision Care Materials Division, Mitsui Chemical will continue to work on vision correction and product development to improve eye health and comfort based on the Vision Quality (QoV) concept. This is in line with Mitsui Chemical Group's efforts to bring people a better vision of the world.
