India Delays Quality Control Regulations for PVC, PP, and Toluene: New Dates Set for 2025

ECHEMI 2025-01-16

The Department of Chemicals and Fertilizers in India has recently announced a postponement of the implementation of quality control regulations for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) homopolymers, polypropylene (PP) materials for molding and extrusion, and toluene. The revised effective dates are as follows:

Product Name

Original Effective Date

New Effective Date

PVC Homopolymers

December 24, 2024

June 24, 2025

PP Materials for Molding and Extrusion

December 24, 2024

June 24, 2025

Toluene

December 22, 2024

December 22, 2025

Once the quality control regulations come into effect, products will be required to comply with the relevant Indian standards and obtain approval from the Bureau of Indian Standards before entering the Indian market. The delay allows exporting companies ample time to ensure compliance with the new regulations.
