Indonesia Imposes Anti-Dumping Duties on Nylon Film from China Taiwan and Thailand

ECHEMI 2025-03-14

On March 12, the Indonesian Ministry of Finance announced that starting March 25, the country will impose anti-dumping duties on nylon film imports from mainland China, Taiwan, and Thailand. This regulation, effective for four years, aims to protect Indonesia's domestic industry.

The announcement specified that the tax rates will vary from 1,254 Indonesian rupiah to 31,510 rupiah per kilogram (approximately $0.076 to $1.92), affecting several companies. Among the companies targeted are Chinese manufacturers such as Kunshan Yuncheng Plastic, Yuncheng Qilong New Materials, and Xiamen Changsu Industrial Co., Ltd., as well as Thai company AJ Plast. Notably, all companies in Taiwan are subject to this tax.

Prior to this decision, on March 28, 2023, the Indonesian Anti-Dumping Committee had launched an investigation into nylon film products based on requests from local companies PT. Emblem Asia and PT. Kolon Ina. The relevant Indonesian tariff codes for the products are 3920.92.10 and 3920.92.99.

The committee's findings indicated that imported nylon films from China, Thailand, and Taiwan were being dumped into the Indonesian market, causing harm to local industries. There was a clear causal relationship between the dumping practices and the damages suffered by domestic producers, warranting the need for anti-dumping duties.

This nylon film, known for its high tensile strength, puncture resistance, and durability, is widely used in various applications, including food and industrial packaging, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and textiles.
