Fixed Asset Investment Reaches 5.26 Trillion Yuan in Early 2025 with Strong Growth Trends
On March 17, the National Bureau of Statistics revealed that China's fixed asset investment (excluding rural households) reached 526.19 billion yuan from January to February 2025, marking a 4.1% increase year-on-year. This growth rate has accelerated by 0.9 percentage points compared to the entirety of 2024. Notably, investment in the chemical raw materials and products manufacturing sector surged by 6.0%.
Breaking down the investments by sector, the primary industry saw an investment of 96.2 billion yuan, reflecting a robust 12.2% growth. The secondary industry followed with an investment of 170.61 billion yuan, demonstrating an 11.4% increase. The tertiary industry experienced a modest rise of 0.7%, totaling 345.96 billion yuan.
Within the secondary sector, industrial investment grew by 11.5% year-on-year. This includes a 4.7% increase in mining investments, a 9.0% rise in manufacturing investments, and a remarkable 25.4% growth in the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, and water.
In the tertiary sector, infrastructure investments (excluding electricity, heat, gas, and water production and supply) grew by 5.6%. Noteworthy areas include a 39.1% increase in water management investments and a 13.4% rise in aviation transport investments, while railway transport investments saw a slight growth of 0.2%.
Regionally, investment growth varied, with the eastern region showing a 1.5% increase, the central region growing by 6.0%, the western region up by 5.3%, and the northeastern region leading with an 11.6% increase.
This data underscores the resilience of China’s economy as it continues to invest in key sectors, paving the way for sustainable growth.
